Interstellar Influencer is a transcontinental audiovisual experience that merges EDM, sculpture, and projection mapping into a synchronized performance spanning thousands of miles. Commissioned by the City of Alexandria Office of the Arts and inspired by StudioKCA’s public artwork Interstellar Influencer (Make an Impact), the project draws on the cosmic story of an asteroid’s collision that shaped the Chesapeake Bay. At the center of this event is the Linux Laptop Orchestra (L2Ork) International Community Ensemble, whose members collaborated in real time from across the U.S. and Argentina. The result: a pulsating EDM-style performance synchronized across hemispheres, made possible through L2Ork’s innovative networked music infrastructure. The sculpture itself became part of the performance, illuminated by live projection mapping from Virginia Tech artist Thomas Tucker, transforming Waterfront Park into an immersive site of rhythm, light, and space-borne narrative.
