ACCelerate Projection Mapping Project
Creative Director and Principal Investigator
ACC Smithsonian Creativity and Innovation Festival, National Museum of American History, Washington, D.C., October 13-15, 2017
Funded by the Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology (ICAT), Virginia Tech
The projection mapping piece took place at the National Mall entrance of the Museum. Two 20,000 lumens Christie Projectors and a stereo sound system powered by two 220-volt generators were utilized to cover the 7,012 square feet of the grand façade of the building entrance. The animated projection mapping show was looped at 4 minute intervals. Audience members entering and exiting the building were treated to projected light and imagery complemented by a unique hypnotic sound track. This was the first animated projection mapping project on the exterior of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.
This project was my vision and creation. I was assisted in its fruition by a team of faculty, staff and students.
